About

Hello, I’m Joanna Roberts, founder of Compassion Waves Partnership. Welcome, and thank you for being here.

I understand the energy and courage it can take to seek support when you’re experiencing loss, particularly when you may already feel physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted. Perhaps you’re also juggling other responsibilities alongside your grief – responsibilities that don’t simply stop, no matter what you’re going through. So, I recognise the extra effort it may have taken just to get here to these words.

What I’d love you to know first is that there is no pressure here at Compassion Waves Partnership. No pressure to meet anyone else’s expectations. No pressure to manage other people’s reactions to your emotions or to put their needs before your own. No pressure to ‘be strong’, ‘be brave’ or ‘move on’.

I’m here to offer a steady, compassionate presence alongside you as you find your way through your grief, in whatever way that looks for you.

I live on the Kent coast with my family, including our beloved pet. I’m a mum, wife, daughter, sister, aunty, friend and companion human – all parts of who I am and how I relate to others.

Throughout my adult life, I’ve experienced profound loss and grief in many forms: the end of my first marriage; both expected and sudden deaths of family members and friends; pregnancy loss; and the traumatic loss of a beloved pet. These experiences have shaped my understanding of grief, and I bring this insight, empathy and wisdom to my work.

Joanna Roberts, founder of Compassion Waves Partnership

I have Counselling Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications and am a certified grief coach in the Life After Loss programme, underpinned by The STILL Method. I have also undertaken specialist training in Pet Bereavement Support with the Blue Cross, alongside Trauma Awareness Training. My career has included work across a range of therapeutic, social and spiritual care settings.

My Christian faith helps shape my own sense of purpose and hope, and I welcome and seek to learn from people of all faiths and none. Grief coaching centres entirely on your unique perspective, values, and emotional needs. The search for meaning and connection beyond ourselves is part of our shared human experience.

Recognising the enduring, ongoing bonds we carry with our loved ones can be a natural and meaningful part of grief, rather than something we need to leave behind.

My top three CliftonStrengths are Empathy, Input and Includer.

Please feel free to ask to see my Enhanced DBS Certificate, which I’m very happy to provide.

At Compassion Waves Partnership, I offer gentle, compassionate coaching to help you navigate your grief at your own pace.

When you feel ready, you’re welcome to arrange a no-pressure chat over an online cup of tea or coffee, or by phone if you prefer.

It’s an opportunity to share what’s going on for you, ask questions and explore whether my coaching feels like the right fit, with no pressure or expectation.

There’s no rush. I’ll be here whenever you feel ready.
